Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Cisco DevNet & Partner Ecosystem Success focusses on all aspects of the customer and partner developer experience when interacting with the portfolio Cisco products, solutions and technology. Amongst many exciting experiences, we offer a wide array of training labs, open access on demand sandboxes and always-on lab functionality for all Cisco technologies. Developers & Learners can access our labs and sandboxes in order to learn, code, deploy and innovate upon, while building solutions alongside the community of DevNet developers and partners. It is a dynamic and rewarding environment, with a user base ever growing in demand. For this reason, we are expanding our team!

We are looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer, with knowledge of task automation and infrastructure-as-code principles, who is familiar with DevOps ways of working and practices.


• Technical Excellence. Scope, Design, build & Test DC and Infrastructure & Networks, both physical and virtualised
o Identify infrastructure root cause issues quickly and solve them in a time critical environment
o Work with the labs & sandbox team and larger Cisco community to capture and assess infrastructure and automation requirements regarding a wide array of new technologies and solutions
o Work with other Cisco infrastructure teams to provide the best and innovative solutions for labs and sandbox requirements, with frugality in mind.
• Innovate. Suggest, implement and support continuous improvement of technical solutions and automation processes
• Customer First. Provide First rate customer and partner facing technical support, providing a motivated “customer comes first” attitude to all interactions.
• High Standards. Create first rate technical solutions and documentation of new and existing network designs, implementations, processes and tooling.
• Learn. Understand Cisco technologies across networking, collaboration, cloud, IoT, development tools and more in order to provide the best solution and technology labs to our growing developer base.

Essential Experience:

• Around 3+ years in network maintenance and core infrastructure support roles
• Around 3+ years’ experience with various Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Cisco IOS, NX-OS
• Experience using APIs, REST, Python and Powershell & NETCONF/RESTCONF/YANG
• Around 2-3+ years’ experience of various automation tools & concepts
• Good, demonstratable experience of DevOps & CI/CD tech & tooling such as Gitlab, Terraform, Docker, Vagrant, Ansible, Packer, NetBox etc.
• Experience in software development, labs or software consulting and support

Extremely Beneficial:

• 3+ years’ experience with Cisco R&S, DataCenter and Security appliances
• Experience of Cisco NSO, pyATS, Cisco Modelling Labs
• A solid grasp of web application fundamentals (web applications, web services)
• Experience working with third-party products and a solid understanding of integration needs with enterprise systems
• Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining applications

Education & Training:

• DevNet Associate, specialist or Professional (Preference)
• CCNA – DC or Security / CCNP (Preference)
• (Beneficial) VMWare Certified Professional – VCP (Preference)
